We want to help young people grow in their faith. The best way to grow in your faith is to develop spiritual HABITS. These are the good kind of habits, and they are listed below. All of our programs and events are designed to help you develop these habits, but how often you practice them is up to you. We have developed some tools to help you practice these habits at home, and in your day to day life. Ask us how to begin this journey, we would be happy to help.

HABITS

Break a Spiritual Sweat! Develop Spiritual HABITS!

  • Hang-time with God: Spending time with God every day is extremely important to our spiritual development. My suggestion? Just try to start with 5 minutes a day. If you need a resource, like a good devotional, contact Doug.
  • Accountability with others: This means that we will let others pick us back up when we trip in our walk with God. It also means that we will allow others to stop us from tripping, even if it hurts sometimes. It is important that you find a good friend who you will allow to hold you accountable
  • Bible memorization: When I go out to my favorite restaurant, I usually have the menu memorized, and I know what I want. Sometimes the server comes very quickly, when they ask me what I will have, I am always able to answer them because I have the menu memorized. Sometimes in life, we encounter situations where we don't know what we want, or how to act. When we memorize scripture, God uses those verses "written on our hearts" to speak to us, and help us in these types of "sticky situations."
  • Involvement in your youth ministry and church: It is amazing how much your relationship with God will grow when you get involved in ministry! Make sure you are connected, on a regular basis, with your church or youth ministry. Without that strong foundation, it is easy to crumble.
  • Tithing: It is in God's word for a reason. When we trust God enough to give him back a tenth, or a tithe, of what he has given us, he will show up in an amazing way in our life! Tithing is simply about trusting God.
  • Study scripture: To really learn from the Bible, we need to do more than just read it. We need to study it! We must learn who wrote the book we are reading, who they wrote it for, when it was written, for what purpose, where the book was written, and how the message of the book can apply to our lives today.
